5-9-25 THOUGHTS
An old saying says “The truth of the pudding is in the eating.” We must walk as we believe. Verse 6 is as plain as it is powerful. “Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.”
May I remind us that Jesus did not concern himself with the “good life”! When we sin, our “purposed Advocate” comes to our aid. We know Christ as we obey Him. Our love is “Perfected” when we obey His word! How simple, unless we seek “wiggle room” for our own self-gratification. Php 2:2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.
1John 2:1 -6 NIV My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defence [our Advocate] —Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4 The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
My Prayer:
Father, help us to walk as Jesus walked. We thank You for our Advocate, Jesus the Christ, who speaks to You in our defence. Help us to live what we know and believe. Open our mouths and lips to tell the good news of Jesus, and help us to have compassionate hearts to serve those in need. Give us joy in serving the Kingdom. It is You , O God, that we serve as we consider Your grace and mercy and love in the gift of Your Son. How wonderfully blessed we are. Thank You, O Father God. In the name of Jesus our Lord, Amen.
